Welcome to Healing Concepts!  I founded this wonderful organization many years ago to help individuals and families move towards well-being in everyday living.  At Healing Concepts, LLC, we combine traditional talk therapy with creative healing techniques such as art & collage, EMDR, guided imagery, journaling, mindful breathing, & meditation. Our work is very collaborative and clients always have a choice about whether or not to integrate creative healing techniques...

I have been working with families struggling with a wide range of life transitions for over 25 years.  I have extensive clinical experience in the fields of cancer care, end of life, grief, living losses, physical illness, professional stress, transition to college, and trauma.  I enjoy using a wide range of clinical theory and creative practices techniques to support families facing change, grief, stress, and suffering.  I have dedicted my life to this work and am lucky to be a nationally recognized expert on grief and loss and coping with physical illness.  I teach many graduate level classes, including classes focused on Advanced Clinical Social Work, Cancer Care, Death, End of Life, and Grief & Loss Across a Life Cycle.  I am a long time adjunct professor with the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice and the West Chester University's MSW program. I've been featured in many national magazines, radio shows and national conferences. One of my greatest points of pride are the four chapters I wrote (one with our very own Terry Sturmer) for Robert Neimeyer's 2012 and 2015 books: Techniques of Grief Therapy: Creative Practices for Counseling the Bereaved and Techniques of Grief Therapy: Assessment and Intervention. I am told that my warm style and friendly demeanor is appreciated by individuals and families of all ages.  I am here to help.  Contact me today to get started on your heling journey!

Teen and Young Adult Transitions

Becoming a teenager and transitioning from teenager to young adult can be difficult times for teens and parents.  Finding the right balance between independence and dependence on family can be tricky for everyone.  Major life transitions, such as managing heavy school demands, navigatin increasingly complex social situations and preparing for college are often stressful and anxiety provoking.  Many adolescents and young adults benefit greatly from having a safe place to explore who they are now and who they wish to become.  Therapy can help to greatly reduce stress between parent and teen as they wrestle with the many challenges inherent in this age group.  We deeply honor an adolescent's right to privacy in the therapeutic context, but also work with the teen to be collaborative with their parents on important issues of concern or tension.  Together we work to promote well-being in everyday living for the individual and family in this challenging time of development.  Some of the issues we commonly see include:

*Anxiety and Depression
